Led by artists, participated by communities, from workshops to exhibitions and performances, a quest for imagined playground of different directions and dimensions

你幻想的理想樂園是怎樣的?

是個怎樣的空間?室內還是室外?是怎樣的光線、顏色?有什麼設施?會聽到什麼聲音、或音樂嗎?瀰漫著什麼氣味?

不同年紀、世代、背景、喜好的人,理想中的樂園都未必一樣。

樂園不僅僅是個「遊樂」場,還可能是一個精神出口,讓人稍稍離開日常 / 現實 (甚或現世),獲得一刻快樂的時光。

這個計劃,以「樂園」為寓,由不同媒介的創作人設計及帶領,以不同媒介及形式創作、體驗,尋找不同向度、面相的樂園想像。

Imagine, what would your ideal playground look like?

What kind of space is it? Should it be indoor or outdoor? How about its light and colours? What kind of facilities are there? Do you hear any sounds or music? How would it smell?

The ideal playground varies among people of different ages, generations, backgrounds and lifestyles.

Playground is more than just a ‘playground’. It can be a mental outlet, for one to faintly drift from the everyday mundane/ reality (or even the present life), to pursue a moment of happiness.

Designed and led by creators across media, the project employs ‘playground’ as the metaphor, adopts varied means and formats of creation and experience, and looks for different directions and dimensions of imagining a playground.

眼睛作為我們觀照世界的一個入口,攝下眼前萬事萬物;我們聆聽不同聲音,不管是悅耳或煩人的,同樣湧進思海迷宮,最後無論是淺薄的印象,還是深刻得已化作肌肉記憶的人和事物,也會變成零碎的記憶碎片,某天自行組合出疑幻疑真的回憶故事。回憶本身可能就已經是一個樂園。人生裏出現過無數故事,不論是親歷其境的還是口耳相傳的,哪些值得記錄下來?哪些就這樣散落了?

隨電影導演卓翔和跨媒體藝術家葉奕蕾引導,我們也來學習當自己記憶影像的導演,在自己的故事與記憶中尋索、整合、再現。

The eyes is the gate through which we contemplate the world, capturing everything before us; we listen to different sounds, be they pleasant or irritating, flood into the maze of our thoughts. In the end, whether they are faint impressions, or unforgettable people and things so intense that they have become muscle memory, everything will turn to merely fragmented cache, that one day assemble into a story of ambiguous memories. Memory itself may already be a playground. Countless stories occur in life, first-hand or hearsay, which ones are worth recording, and which ones have so dispersed?

Guided by film director Cheuk Cheung and multidisciplinary artist Elysa Wendi, we will learn to be the director of our individual recollections, to search, integrate and represent alongside our own stories and memories.

假如我們可以穿越時空,回到過去,你最想回到人生的哪一個瞬間?在你眼中,生命裡哪個瞬間最值得珍重,最想留住的?

不同年紀閱歷,自然有不同質感的人生記憶,不一定是改變人生的大事件,可能只是看似微不足道的日常。學習回顧,亦是一種恩德,愛惜當下所擁有的,迎接未來不可預知的人生。

透過你們分享私密的人生片段,試圖達成一個隔空對話,讓處於人生不同階段的你,與過去的自己重遇。

兩位藝術家會通過訪問去收集你們的故事與記憶,亦透過工作坊引領參加者以不同形式 (包括:身體、語言、影像、繪畫、文字等)呈現屬於你們的故事與記憶。

If we could traverse in time and revisit the past, which moment in your life would you almighty like to return to? Which moment in your lifetime would you cherish and preserve the most?

Different ages and experiences fabricate different textures of lifetime memories, not necessarily a life-changing event, but rather a seemingly unremarkable daily humdrum. Learn to look back as a kind of grace, to appreciate what we have, and embrace our unpredictable future.

By sharing intimate moments, we try to process a dialogue, for whose life hits distinct stages, between you and your past selves.

The two artists will collect your stories and memories through interviews, and lead the participants to present their stories and memories in different forms (including body, verbal, video, painting, writing, etc.) through workshops.

童年時,我們常常聽長輩、老師及同學講過各種傳說與寓言故事,我們習慣將印象深刻的故事轉告親友,當中最廣泛流傳的往往是那些奇幻神化、撲朔迷離的故事。

透過搜集你們在童年時聽過的各種奇幻故事,試圖尋找哪些能夠代代相傳的故事,如何跨越時空,又或是在流轉中變異,加入了自己在有意無意間的延伸想像與創作。

兩位藝術家卓翔及葉奕蕾,將透過工作坊引領參加者以不同形式 (包括:身體、語言、圖像、文字等)展述這些奇幻故事,以新的方式再一次流傳下去。

As children, we often heard of legends and fables told by our elders, teachers and classmates, and we used to pass on the stories that impressed us to our friends and relatives. The most widespread ones are usually those of fantasy, speculation, puzzle and confusion.

By collecting the intriguing stories heard in childhood, participants will find out which stories can be handed down to generations, how they transcend time and space, or how they transform along the way, adding their extended imagination and creation, intentionally and unintentionally.

Artists Cheuk Cheung and Elysa Wendi will conduct workshops for participants to tell their fantastical stories in different forms (including body, verbal, images, words, etc.) and relay again in a new way.


卓翔 Cheuk Cheung
電影導演 Film Director

香港出生,畢業於香港演藝學院。聯合創立「映像先驗」,曾執導三部有關戲曲的紀錄片《乾旦路》、《一個武生》及《戲棚》,憑《戲棚》獲香港藝術發展獎藝術家年獎,並提名金馬獎最佳紀錄片及香港電影金像獎新晉導演;同時活躍於策劃跨文化藝術創作及交流,曾獲邀到Tokyo Arts and Space作駐場藝術家,聯合導演的劇場作品《肖像曲》於香港大會堂劇場上演,與崑劇、能劇及歌劇藝術家共同合作。聯合導演舞蹈影像《一棵樹》,先後獲邀到羅馬尼亞、挪威、加拿大、日本及新加坡等地作公開放映。
Born in Hong Kong and graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Co-founder of A Priori Image, CHEUK directed three documentaries about Chinese Opera, including My Way, My Next Step and Bamboo Theatre. He was named Artist of the Year at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards and was nominated for Best Documentary at the Golden Horse Awards and Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards with Bamboo Theatre. In 2017, he was invited by Tokyo Arts and Space’s residency program. In 2018, he co-directed a theatre piece Songs of Portrait, involving three diverse background artists from Kunqu, Noh and Opera. In 2019, CHEUK co-directed a dance film Someday I Will Become a Rock, it was screened in Bucharest, Trondheim, Montreal, Tokyo and Singapore, etc.

葉奕蕾 Elysa Wendi
跨媒體藝術家 Multidisciplinary Artist

葉奕蕾是居港的新加坡籍舞蹈藝術家,於2008年告別其十年職業舞蹈生涯後,即展開一段舞蹈概念的探索之旅,包括透過電影媒界、多媒體表演項目及策展等。她是Cinemovement平台的創辦人之一,該平台透過建立工作室及文化交流項目,推廣和輔助新的舞蹈影像製作。自2018年起以獨立策展人的身份參與跳格國際舞蹈影節,以及其他舞蹈/影像項目。她游走於編舞研習和影像研究之間,兼收並蓄,自成一套創作方法,尤其熱衷於在作品中探索地方、時間、歷史追溯和印象等題材。其中一齣備受注意的作品《慢遞1958》,糅合攝影、歷史和戲劇儀式,榮獲南方影展最佳實驗片獎。
Elysa Wendi is a dance artist and filmmaker working between Singapore and Hong Kong.  Preoccupied with the abstraction of memory from place, time and biographical traces, Wendi explores these themes in her live and filmic works. Straddling between disciplines, Wendi develops her films with a choreographic eye and performative approach. Her short film 1958 Delivery won the Best Experimental Film award at the 2018 South Taiwan Film Festival, and her film Forgive or Not to Forgive won Best Documentary at Hong Kong ArtHouse Film Festival 2020. She co-founded Cinemovement – a platform for inter-disciplinary film creation  together with film producer Jeremy Chua in 2015.

** 成功獲選的參加者必須同時參與「奇幻寓言故事」及「記憶夢幻人生」合共6節的工作坊。
(最後,參加者有機會以不同形式參與在2023年舉行的「展・演」活動。)

** Successfully selected participants are requested to attend both workshops of total 6 sessions.

我們習慣被視覺主導,有很多聲音,我們都不自覺地「聽以不聞」,更莫說去尋索聲從何來。聲音藝術家們提倡「Deep listening」,提醒我們身處的世界其實從沒有寧靜一刻,放空聆聽,甚或可以聽到超乎想像的「樂章」。

錄音機與揚聲器,一個負責收錄,一個負責傳播,它們可以很日常和實用,也可以像魔法道具般帶領我們發現/發掘聲音。在「收錄」和「播放」之間,進行分析、選擇,創作,構作聲音體驗裝置/演出。 

音響工作者及環境錄音師簡僖進,與媒體藝術家馮俊彥,以他們對於聆聽與聲景/音樂構作的經驗,帶領參加者把玩聲音的可能。

We are so accustomed to let visual sensors dominate our lives, that numerous sounds pass unconsciously ‘hear without hearing’, not to mention the urge to trace their source. Sound artists advocate ‘deep listening’, reminding us that there is never a moment of silence in our world, that we can stop thinking and just listen, and perhaps ‘music’ beyond imagination can so be heard.

The recorder and the speaker, for recording and for transmitting, can be very practical in daily life, or can miraculously lead us to discover/ dig out sounds. Between ‘recording’ and ‘playing’, they analyse, select, create and construct sonic experience with installations/ performances.

Sound designer and field recordist Kan Hei-chun (AK), together with media artist Jasper Fung, appropriating their experience in listening and soundscape/ music composition, will steer participants to probe into the possibilities of sound.

運動、耍樂的場所作為樂園的一種想像,當我們到籃球場、壁球場、游泳池去享受自己喜愛的運動的時候,可有留意它們獨有的聲景?你的玩樂園地又有什麼樣的聲音?

相反地,單靠聲音,沒有畫面,我們亦可能分別出一個個不同「聲景」的所在,是森林、是城市街道、是遊樂場、還是⋯⋯。

音響工作者及環境錄音師簡僖進將開啟參加者聆聽聲音的雷達,專注聆聽、放大我們不曾留意的環境聲音,學習「田野錄音」的收音程序,並利用收錄回來的聲音去創作,構作成不同的聲音體驗裝置。

Let’s take sports and recreation centres as an imaginary park. When we enjoy ourselves in basketball fields, squash courts and swimming pools, do we notice each of their unique soundscapes? What are the sounds of your playground?

In contrast, with sound not pictures, we can as well distinguish between different ‘soundscapes’, be it a forest, a city street, a playground, or….

Sound designer and field recordist Kan Hei-chun (AK) will unlock the participants’ audio radar, focusing on listening, amplifying the ambient sounds less aware of, learning the ‘field recording’ process and using the recorded sounds to create different sound installation/experience.

鐘聲響起,是時候上課、集合了;不同語言的提示廣播,是到站下車的時候;音樂傳來,彷彿便見到帶來愉悅的雪糕和卡通人物。擴音,除了功能性去發放資訊,亦同時有效營造氛圍,將人包裹其中,投入某種想像世界。

擴音器本身,除了作為載體/工具,廣播已選的內容,亦同時作為一件器物/樂器,它又能發揮出什麼聲音可能?工作坊內讓大家一同實驗。

媒體藝術家馮俊彥帶領參加者尋找聲音來源,從不同場域廣播聲中,從體驗到判別被塑造的不同氛圍與意思。當聲景錯置呈現,並化成環境聲音裝置,又會帶來什麼可能的體驗?

Time to go to class and assembly as the bell rings; time to get off at the station as the multilingual announcement is broadcasted; time to be rejoiced by the ice-cream and the cartoon characters as the music is played. Amplification, not only functionally disseminates information, but also effectively forms an atmosphere which envelops people in a world of imagination.

What are the sound possibilities of the amplifier itself, not only as a carrier/ apparatus for broadcasting designed content, but also as an object/ instrument? Participants will experiment and find out in the workshop.

Media artist Jasper Fung will take the participants to detect the source of sound, experience and discern the different atmospheres and meanings shaped, through broadcasts among distinct fields. When the soundscape is juxtaposed and transformed into sound installation, what experiences will possibly arise?

音響工作者及環境錄音師 Sound Designer and Field Recordist

簡僖進為自由身音響工作者及環境錄音師,2017年畢業於香港演藝學院舞台及製作藝術學士(榮譽) 學位,主修音響系統設計。簡氏為大自然聲音計劃《AK IN KK – Nature Field Recording HK》((https://akinkk.com) 的策劃人,以聲音地圖和聲音存庫記錄香港大自然的聲音景觀,把山嶺流水分享到城市的耳朵。簡氏近期參與的製作有CMHK《Sound Forms 2021》、西九文化區《千高原》、《白日》、大館表演藝術季《有你,故我在》、賽馬會 ifva Everywhere新作委約計劃《Birds Sing Louder in the City》、舞蹈演出《燕宇春徽》、體驗劇場《她和他意識之流》和《她和他的時間之流》及《海洋公園哈囉喂全日祭2014-2017》;2019年亦為「黑暗中對話體驗館」作音響設計。

AK Kan Hei-chun is a freelance sound designer, artist and field recordist. Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, majoring in Sound System Design. He has started his curatorial project – AK IN KK – Nature Field Recording HK (https://akinkk.com), a sound recording project featuring a sound map and sound library of Hong Kong’s nature, in bringing mountains and streams to the urban ears. His recent participated productions include: CMHK – Sound Forms 2021, West Kowloon Cultural District – A Thousand Plateaus and Bright Day, Tai Kwun Spotlight – A Poem in Jail, Jockey Club ifva Everywhere New Work Series Birds Sing Louder in the City, and dance performance – Yin Yu Chun Fai; immersive theatre projects at the Fringe Club – Lingering in Time and Stream of Consciousness.

馮俊彥 Jasper Fung
藝術家研究員  Artist-researcher

馮俊彥是一名香港媒體藝術家研究員,曾在香港及歐洲修讀媒體藝術和媒體文化研究,其創作涵蓋即興表演、電聲作曲和聲音裝置。不時運用日常物件演奏探討真實與想像之間的關係。他把擴音器視為樂器,試圖探索如何通過「聽」和現場音樂來建構經驗。近年他嘗試邀請不同藝術家以有限器材在公共空間練習如何將表演混合到城市景觀中。他的作品曾於東亞及歐洲多個國際音樂節和研討會發表,包括奧地利林茲電子藝術節和在倫敦舉行的新樂器介面國際會議等。

Jasper Fung is an artist-researcher currently based in Hong Kong. His inter-disciplinary practices intertwine with free improvisation, sound studies and media arts. Fung’s approach toward performativity wanders the relationship between the real and the imagined. His use of everyday objects and loudspeakers as musical instruments delve into how multi-sensory experiences are constructed through the penetration of sound in relation to its context. In 2020, Fung started practicing a form he reclaimed as “Social patching” by remixing performances with limited apparatus into the cityscape at both public and private spaces. Fung holds a Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree in Media Arts Cultures from Aalborg University Denmark, University of Łódź and Donau-Universität Krems. His works have been presented among countries including Ars Electronica, Linz (2017) and The International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression, London (2014).
